Searching on my property after work today i found a centralized area where i found five more of The AOUW medals. There where also a bunch of cut nails and a layer of burned sedament in them also. 1EB03B03-71B6-46AE-8C56-9058C5FA11F8.jpeg

What is the AOUW? Gary

I was curious, myself. Wikipedia has a brief history. Ancient Order of United Workmen, founded 10-27-1868 in Pennsylvania. Initially for white men only, it was a fraternal organization to provide life insurance benefits, and a brotherhood of workers. $1 to join, $500 paid to family upon death. Each time a member died, each member paid $1 to the fund. Founded by a Mason, it's got a lot of Masonic-type rituals, and initiations. 1895, it had 318,00 members. Gradually died out, changed name, some lodges morphed into insurance companies. No longer exists.

Very cool finds! And thanks for the history on them...Interesting so many would be in one spot, any special reason why...maybe a old picnic area where they would meet, or maybe a meeting house? Thanks for sharing!

You stated, it had burning in the area, so they were probably dumped there.
