Stopped at a teardown along Lake Michigan yesterday ....construction guys told me to "have at it " then laughed because it was pretty trashy.....they had just taken down the walls and front porch....so I was able to find a couple of things...in about twenty minutes.
I dont know what the round thing is. But...the little tab on it is silver (which is weird) and says E 9 1/2 and the backside is "New Departure" I think. I found the key /coin holder about five feet from one of the construction workers...hahaha... still full of coins all in the 70's...I like the little carpet sweeper advertisement promo " IT BEATS AS IT SWEEPS AS IT CLEANS.....SUPER"...the compact says "Lournay" and the bottle says "Hind's Honey and Almond Cream A.S. Hinds Co Bloomfield NJ

Nice finds Gypsy! Lake Michigan? Aren't you in Wisconsin? The silver thingy looks like a bicycle bell but why would the ringer lever be silver? HH, Mike

Around 1888, E.D. Rockwell and A.F. Rockwell, who ran a hardware store in Florida, invented a doorbell run by clockwork called the "New Departure Bell". It was named so, because it was unlike anything else on the market. In 1889 they organized the New Departure Bell Company in Bristol, Connecticut, and later added a bicycle bell [/font] that became very popular.

No "W" in the great lakes, LOL. HOMES=Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior. Might be worth telling the girls, easy way to remember the great lakes. HH, Mike

Gypsy,
Very cool finds. I love that little sweeper. Is it from Stewart Little's house? ???
When I first saw that black piece in the first picture, I thought it was a toe divider for a three-toed sloth. ;D
Congrats to you,
MM
