Decided to go MDing for a while after work today. I hit a soccer field near the house expecting to find change and possibly some jewelry, which I did but I also found some musket balls. The soccer field is only about 1/4 mile from where a Colonial settlement was located so I guess i shouldn't be so surprised. As best I could tell they average around .502 caliber. One was definitely fired.

No definitely not fishing weights. It was hard to get an exact consistent measurement but the average I kept getting was .502

Too small for musket balls, most likely rifle balls. Always nice to find!

Get yourself a really good magnifying glass...if muzzleloader you'll see rifling marks even if patched...if not my guess is its grapeshot from a Civil War Cannon..
