Very Irritating 35 Minutes today.
I forgot to take Bug Spray with.
Though the Thickness of them may have Rendered the spay useless anyway.
I won't forget it Tomorrow.

One on the Left Possible Dates
1909 - 1913 - 1915 or 1919
considering mintage's 1919 is most likely

one on right 193? or 195?
The green Color suggests to me Very early 30's

Nice of you to post! Thanks for resisting the gnats and getting a few keepers. It's getting cooler!

Great shots, Jeff! Love the old church. Yep, gnats during the day and skeeters at dusk..ugh. Did a night hunt recently and my headlamp attracted SO many bugs it was almost impossible to detect. I put a hat on and doused my head and neck area with half a can of Deep Woods Off...im not sure what was worse, the bugs or the toxic fumes I was breathing lol...Thx for sharing, Ddf.

I normally Use This in Unscented form.

Almost out, Cans I have feel so light,
I'm afraid if I try to test the spray I will empty them just witth 1 Quick Push.
Si I went on Ebay & grabbed this deal.

I do have a Large Unused Can of Unscented REPEL

repel-bug-spray-hg-94099-1-64_1000.jpg

as a backup.
no idea which is better.
both I have are surly expired by now.
probably 5 years old or older.

the AVON Usually lasts 10 Minutes Before the Gnats seem to get used to it.

smoking used to be my best remedy.

Punks after I quit

I may have to look into them again

Congrats on the finds!!! I understand the feeling. We ran into some biting black flies on Washington Island on Lake Michigan that were like flying piranhas. Pesky bugs!!!!

Not sure about your gnats, but the ones we have in coastal South Carolina bite. Finally figured out why they hurt so much when a magnified picture was taken of one.

Food for thought. I'm not a smoker but recently took up cigars when I found out that gnats and mosquitos do not like cigars.

I did actually Get bit Yesterday.
when I hopped in the car to leave I noticed a tiny hole in my hand
in the General Area between my thumb & My Pointer finger.
that Itched & Swelled slightly.
Not a mosquito , that I am pretty Confident.
the itch went away before I even got out of town.
Personally I think it was one of those super tiny Yellow Bees/flies.
(not yellow Jackets)

For what it's worth, if those gnats are like the kind I'm familiar with, vanilla extract does wonders.

The cheap imitation vanilla extract is what I use but be sure to get the kind without sugar. Otherwise it's a bit sticky.

I've had good luck with dryer sheets - you take one and rub it over your hair, shoulders and arms then tuck one in around the collar of your shirt or sleeves. It works pretty good!

the Avon Spray worked 100% on Friday the entire 30 Minute Hunt.
I Don't remember seeing even one. Of course that may have been
due to weather or Location..
But it was just a Typical Day in a Park Setting.

Only thing the AVON is sitting for over a Year,
and Almost empty. Is labeled "unscented" but Smells like bug Spray.
so it may be very Concentrated from sitting unshaken for a year or more
