went out to a river site to find a cabin with my grandfather and younger cousin. the river had flooded heavily so it turned out impossible to reach our site. walking back discouraged I had hunted the walk back. in the most random location, this popped out. 1906 barber quarter: the year my great grandparents were born.

CONGRATS on your first old big silver !! Best wishes for many more ! The coolest thing is that you were with your grandfather & found an
old silver coin with the year of your great grandparent's birth. At times I feel those that have gone before us are watching out for us.
Two years ago I was hunting old school grounds with my good buddy & popped out an 1894 Barber half. Coincidentally, 1894 is the
birth year of BOTH my buddy's grandfathers. Naturally, I gave the coin to him so his kids & grand kids will have a family heirloom of a
significant family date. Great find you made with your grandfather & cousin. Cheers !

New Orleans mint mark?

Maybe it’s a D, instead of an O.

Nice coin.

Nice first, big silvers usually denote a half or a dollar. Just for future reference. Don't mind us older heads, just sometimes we have too much time on our hands.
Congrats on your barber quarters, before I started this hobby I had never heard of barber. So I understand the learning curve.
