Temps in the 50's today, the ground soggy. And since the Nox has been calling me from the corner of my office for two weeks now...

Funny thing, I dug over 100 targets today and made $7+ in change, but the religious pendant was my very first hit. Both it and the bent-up ring are .925 silver.

Not sure about the button, except that it's probably from London :laughing7: Open to ideas on how old it might be.

Finally, I texted my friend "Well it finally happened... I found Jesus!" and waited a good five minutes before sending the first pic. He wrote back saying "Oh that's nice, but I was hoping for something crazier like a piece of Jesus toast."

Soo.... ten minutes later I just had to send him this:

I just might have too much time on my hands.

What does the button front look like? What part of the world was it found in? It's possible that it is a Waterbury Button Company made for the Confederacy and sold through intermediaries in London. But, this is pure speculation on my part without seeing the front.

The front of the button is pretty shot, unfortunately. But here it is:

It was found in Long Island, NY at an elementary school that used to be an old farm or orchard. I've found stuff there dating back as far as an 1818 large cent, so it could be anything from that era on up until today.

You,re right. The front doesn't help much except to say that it probably isn't military. Being of two piece construction it would date around 1840 at the earliest.
