I went back this morning to the site where I've been digging a few eagle buttons and a few coins. At first the ground was only giving up shotgun shells. I later moved to another portion of the field and dug this dime. Within twenty feet of it, I recovered both of the copper arrowheads. It's likely this site was occupied during more than one time period. I believe these type points were in use well before 1835. This coin is reaching back pretty far into this areas history. The county in which it was found was established in 1825.

Thank you? Lol

He really did! Said come over here and check this area. Within ten maybe, twenty minutes I had all three of those finds. Then my luck ran out and I went back to digging shotgun shells. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

I don't have an 1835 capped bust dime or an 1842 Mexican half dollar. Can I have them both? Oh yeah, I didn't find anything today!:laughing7:

I read somewhere that some copper points made from hammered copper ore were found in Florida.
These type points that we are finding down here were made from copper kettles that were trade items. The natives would cut up the kettles and roll them themselves so each is made a little different. As far as I know, mine date from the late 1700s to the very early 1800s. They are actually rare and hard to find. I only have about a dozen or so.

Those are great finds. Can you post more pics of the 2 arrowheads? They look like tinkling cones. I found 2 that were very similar a year or two ago and thatโ€™s what someone on here identified them as. Could be wrong. I had actually found a few previously too, thought they were modern trash and tossed them. When I found the last two I posted them on tnet and got them identified. Iโ€™ll post pics of mine sometime tomorrow.

That capped dime is gorgeous! I still have not found a capped silver so Iโ€™m just a tad bit jealous of that baby. Congrats

Here are some more pictures of other copper points that I have found in the past. In the group picture, the object on the right I would consider as a possible tinkler because it has not got a sharp point. The rest of them I would consider as arrowheads.
