Cold hands and a little silver

Wind off the lake and temps in 30s made for a cold afternoon at the park but I met up with JF there and he did quite well with an IHC and seated dime both from 1890. I got mostly clad ($3.35), three wheats, an enameled pendant and a .925 ring, so a little silver to take home from the city.

Thanks Smokey! Recent drop, probably within the year. Rang up solid 26 on Nox, so it had a better id than a bottle cap and above a penny and lower than a dime. Don't expect silver to be 30 or higher on this unit or you'll miss some.

All our meters need to be covered over to help our digging results. Doesn't matter what machine really. Like that one chart on the gold put up here on Tnet. It rings up everywhere, depending on size, karat, physical form, broken or intact, and metals alloyed with it. One of my ickiest signals this year was one of the best items I ever found in my life!

Great job. My hands have been freezing up here in the west end of the state as well. I found a ring just like that one about 2 years ago on a ball field.

To get the ring back in round I use a metal ring size stick and a leather mallet. I put the ring on the stick and gently tap the flat of the ring against the stick. I slowly work my way around until it is smooth and round. Be careful with older silver rings that have been in the ground a long time. They have a tendency to crack along the solder joint and need to be resoldered.

What I can see you have doing pretty good down there in the city. Keep swingin.

I agree 100%. When I use the ATPro I rarely look at the VDI numbers. Iffy sounding signal yield some good finds. Admittedly they also yield a lot of trash, but I would rather dig the trash than miss a good find. Keep swingin.
