Found a few items over the last few weeks just got around to making an account and posting them. We were out Metal detecting in our yard and not too far from our big tree out front we found What we believe to be a musket ball. It was reading in at High 60's low 70's and dug it up from 10" deep.
( Whats your ideas do you think this is in deed a musket ball. Compared it to size in the pictures next to a dime.
Also we were out digging in our familys property where some recent trees were up rooted. These peices of What is believed to be Indian pottery were found underneath where the tree was. Any ideas why there might have been a hole in the one peice of pottery??

The hole in the pottery would have been near the top of the vessel, and one on the opposite side, where a handle made of rawhide or something similar would have been attached. I have found numerous fragments in NC that have the same.

Some pictures of ones I have found

It could be part of a repair job. A crack starts to form. Drill a hole on either side of the crack and sinew it together. I've seen bannerstones and gorgets repaired this way. Extends the life a little. Gary

Can you get any close up clearer pics of the drilled piece maby edges and around , ? not arguing with whats already been said but a closer look ,it might be another type artifact as well. just wondering if that is a pottery piece.
