Found my oldest coin so far to date. 1850 Seated Liberty Dime. I've been hunting pretty hard for the last 3 months and was pretty excited about the find. I love seeing everyone else's coins on here but was beginning to think the woods I hunt wouldn't give up any old coins. Had my 7 year old with me and he was ready to go after about 30 minutes so I cant wait to get back to that spot and see what else lies in wait. Thanks for looking and good luck out there!

Nice find. Seated dimes, quarters and halfs dated 1852 or earlier are not a common find. Ones with details are even rarer

I was pleased the condition as well. My soil is really hard and clumpy clay. It was on an old roadbed as well that isn't traveled at all by vehicles. It was about 5 inches down as well. Have a buddy who use to have permission on the same property and he found 2 reales that looked brand new out the ground. Thanks for the comments everyone!

NICE....Your Seated Dime is not only an 1850 seated dime it is an "1850-O" Seated Dime from the New Orleans mint. And there were only 510,000 of them minted -- who knows how few are still around - GREAT find, my friend. Good Luck getting back out there & Happy Hunting. BILL

I'm about 2 1/2 hours from Mrytle. I believe that is close to Calabash's stomping grounds.

That's a good looking oldie for sure. I've only found three and none of them are in nearly as good a shape as yours.
