Damnails and I went out for a quick three hour hunt this morning and I managed three flat buttons and the usual junk.
I think one may be special and I'm still researching. It's a eagle button surrounded by stars and has a banner saying "E Pluribus Unum" It's very thin and the image appears to be pressed into the button because you can see the releaf on the back. I haven't been able to find a exact match yet but I'm still looking. I'm very tickled with this button regardless of what it is. Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking. "E Plurbus Unum" is on political buttons associated with the congressional campaign of 1834. I found a flat button with it on the back, but this variety I've never seen. I would guess if not in the books it's some scarce variety.
