Here's a case where a not-very-promising-looking area yielded a few interesting items. I decided to try an area across the street from one of my favorite old schools this weekend. I had checked this spot a couple of times but it seemed like a dead area as I would only find clad and a few screw caps ( deep at 7" ). Plus, some of the sidewalk appeared newer and there are no old trees. Regardless, the ground was finally soft again here in Michigan after a brutal July so I tried my luck not expecting to find anything old.

The chauffeur's badge was deep....at least 10-11 inches. The pocketwatch frame was also 9-10 inches down. Turns out this area was just as old and undisturbed as the school grounds. Friday eve and Sat morn hunt.. ended up with an Indian, Rosie, 9 wheats, war nickel, the badge and watch.

This proves again you can never tell what's in the soil until you dig; I focused on deep signals.

Loved everything, but the chauffeurs badge is, by far, my favorite. I would love to find something like that! Great job!

Dig the watch and the Chauffeurs badge! Only about 20 years of automobile history and already had registered chauffeurs sporting people around...fantastic!

Hi Smallfoot. My thoughts were the same... not sure if they had taxi yet.. I imagine an early bus or something. It’s the first chauffeur’s badge I’ve dug.

Man I dig, (or you dug) that Chauffeur's badge. That is one very nice looking badge. I still have one of those on my bucket list. Would love to dig one some day.
