I went back to campus yesterday and did some swingin with the CZ21. I worked some sections between the parking areas. I ended up with a nice variety of finds. In 5 hours I found 106 coins with a face value of $4.94, a dead Guess watch, an organ reed, a brass ring (probably from some horse tack), part of a catholic rosary, two different sizes of hem weights, a small key, a cut 1973 Canadian penny, and a pewter duck pendant.

Do you know what this is? They used to be in every vehicle produced and now I don’t think any new vehicle has one. It is a cigarette lighter. You pushed it in and the coil on the end heated up and when it was ready it popped out so you could use it to light up. My how things have changed in my lifetime.

The pendant looks like it might a wood duck. It is modern pewter and the find of the day.

Thanks for looking and may your coil lead you to good things.

We had a JFK Lincoln. You know the suicide door, 6000 pound beast. There was also a cigarette lighter in each door console in back, if I remember correctly. We were a smokin' country.

Yes we were! I quit in 1974, the hardest and the best thing I ever did for myself.

Keep swingin.

I thought you were being serious and was going to identify the Cigarette lighter for you, until I read the next line in your post. I just found one myself last month. Doesn't seem so long ago, I was watching my Dad push that thing in to "light up". Where did that 45 years go ? I like that Duck pendant.

Very nice finds! I like the idea of photographing them on a grid. Really easy to get a feel for scale.
