I only had a couple of hours today, so I went to a couple of local public spots. As is usually the case, I dug a lot of trash and some modern coins.
One spot has some really nice trees, including this giant magnolia.
I found a buffalo nickel near that tree a couple of years ago, so I went extra slow as I passed it today. I got a deep mid tone, sounded like all the other trash I had dug, so I was surprised when a coin, no two coins, came out of the hole. A quick wipe revealed a pair of V nickels! 1906 & 1907.
The coins were nested together and some details remained. Most old nickels come out of ground in poor shape around here.

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts.
