I went with Megalodon twice within the last week breaking in (and trying to break) the new boat. We tooled around for miles up and down Calvert Cliffs looking for Miocene fossils. Lots of the places are inaccessible from land, so a boat is the only way to go.

We hit several spots and at the end of the day I had over 30 teeth day 1 and 50 day 2. Here's some pics. I managed to get one of each of the types of teeth found here, including a rare Angel shark tooth! They are TINY!

IMG_0960.JPG Cow shark (rare)

IMG_0961.JPG Mixed group, thrasher shark, bull shark, etc.

IMG_0962.JPG Angel shark tooth

IMG_0963.JPG Ray teeth and a porpoise tooth. I also found a fossil crab claw, some bone fragments, a shark or other fish vertebrae, part of a whale vertebrae, several nice pecten and clam shells, and some sea glass.

I had a blast!

Nice, Smokey. I wish I would have done some shark tooth hunting when we wintered in Florida. Wintering in Arizona produces no sharks teeth.

No, but I bet Arizona has fossils somewhere, at least they have a lot of copper minerals.

Yes we have found some cool fossils and minerals. We have done a lot of rock hounding there. We have an Arizona rock garden here in Pa with many cool finds. Also quite a lot of petrified wood.

If anyone went out today, they would have been blown all the way to Virginia. Winds are horrid.

Nice finds , Calvert cliffs is a lot of fun we go every summer and stay in the cabins at Matatoaka itโ€™s been a yearly tradition for about 15 years now. My buddy that took us there the first time had dozens of megladon teeth some over 6โ€ many of those were found on government property down there but since 9/11 they donโ€™t let anybody on the beach anymore.

You my friend R a shark tooth expert! Cool stuff! I was out yesterday and the tide was nice, you could have walked out a hundred yards and still not been in the water.

Yes. I went out during the blowout too. Love those winds from the W-NW on our side of the Bay. Unfortunately, I was waiting on a scheduled boat delivery and could not get out as early as I wanted. Talk about chomping at the bit... And I was beaten by one other fossil hunter with estimated size 11-12 feet. Still a nice healthy hike for about 6 miles and found over 100 teeth.
