1722 George and a Tick!
This morning it was below freezing when I put my frozen waders on to cross over on to one of my favorite sites here in South Jersey. By the afternoon the ticks were on me! This site just keeps giving no matter how many times I beat it down. Just when I think it's cleaned out yet another George comes up. My Fisher F-75 does well but I'm only getting surface targets. Every time I sift the same site it opens up a so much more.
I'll have to go back to sifting next time!!

Beautiful coin! We have ticks here year-round now, if there's no snow they make their way up from the ground cover as the day progresses. I've seen them in January, but interestingly they almost completely disappear in the summer.
seek and ye shall find sayeth the Lord

Ugh. a little over 30 years ago I got Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from a tick bite. Incredibly high fever, it was one of the most horrible things in my life. Spent four days in the hospital hooked up to all kinds of IVs. I HATE Ticks

I also hate ticks. I haven't seen one in 2019. Last year, they literally leaped out of trees to fall on us.

Great find congrats! You mentioned you're mostly finding shallow targets. Try one of the other forums for some advice on settings. Try different settings next time you're out detecting. Go over the same path in different settings too. Good luck

Great looking coin. We sure don't find those in my area. Nicely done.
You're not going to find anything cool sitting on the couch!
