Pocket watch

It’s a pocket watch. I can’t see a makers name on the back it appears to have just a glass face I don’t see a hinge for a cover. There is brass gears(maybe) but all the pins are iron there is a lot of corrosion on the inside. What would be a good guess of age and how could I find a manufacturers name will the back pop off?

I'd say at least pre-1900, likely 1870 or so. But I'm not an expert or even very knowledgeable about watches. Hopefully some others on TNet will chime in Barrydang.

Im pretty sure the back pops off I have 7 or 8 which I havent tried to pop the back off but Ive seen many posts where people say to pop it off for a makers ID

I don't think I've ever found a full pocket watch intact. Way to go!

Got the back off as careful as I was it broke some. But I was able to find the maker. It’s E. Ingraham company Bristol conn. USA that’s what it says. Doesn’t really pin down a date but from other items I have found I will assume early 1900’s but it could be alil older or newer they made watches from 1860 up till ww2. I have stuff on my property that dates between those years and older.

alil more looking. based on the name used e. ingraham company they started with that specific logo in 1885 and based on the serial # i found finally its a 50 something and all movements from 50 to 53 i beliece it is 51 started manufacture in 1912. which is right inline with some spoon and shotgun shells i have been able to identify.

This all base metal watch along with other manufacturers Like Ingersoll and Sears and Westclox Are called Dollar watches. Made inexpensively, non repairable and sold for 1 dollar at department stores. They are fun to find as many had characters on the dials (Hop along Cassidy for one) Most of the time you find them broken and they will never run again. Nice find!
