Hi all, Tuesday was a holiday here and so i decided to head out to the gold digging deep in the Whip Stick
Forest. The site is about a 2 hour drive on dirt tracks till i reached a place ,where once a gold trooper and gold permit station once operated.A gold permit in 1854 was 10 shilling a month and had to be renew on the first day of every month.Virginia Hill got its name from american sailors who jumped ship at Port Philip at the start of the gold rush in 1851 and a couple of years later ended up at the site of the second gold rush of Eaglehawk.

Well i stopped the car and opened the door and spotted this 1850's powder flask, washed out of the clay in resent rains.I wish i could find more things as easy as this.Worked the area around the diggings and trooper camp and found a few intersting things,Coins ,bottles, miners shovel.Pics will tell the rest of the story.
