I went back to the old high school to do some swingin with the CZ21. They finally cut the grass so I gridded another section of one sports field. I am slowly working my way across this field and am about 2/3 done. I spent 4 hours working along digging all mid and high tones as well as the iffy mixed signals. I found a lot of tabs and junk. The coins were few and far between. On my last pass I managed a mid tone civil war bullet. It is a .44 caliber Watervliet Arsenal bullet. It was only about 2 inches down and shows damage from tilling and reseeding the field.

I spent another 1.5 hours working my way across another field toward an area I thought might be promising. I was digging mostly coin signals with an occasional promising mid tone dig. When I got over by the fence I worked parallel to the fence and right in front of a post got a nice high tone. When I popped the plug this nice quarter sized disk was right on top. I knew it wasn’t clad by the color and I could make out the eagle though the dirt. It was a 1909 Barber quarter. It has some tuff black crud stuck to the upper edge that might be hard to get off.

All together I found 32 coins in my 5.5 hour hunt with a face value of $2.02, an ace bandage fasteners, screw in cleats, a civil war bullet, the Barber quarter, an organ reed and the screw-in top to a brass instrument valve.

So a good day with my 3rd silver for the month, a little history, social distancing exercise and a little gas money. What more could you ask for?

Thanks Tommy. I will keep swingin at the scout camp tomorrow. Maybe I’ll get lucky. Stay safe and keep swingin.
