Last weekend I was calling it quits for detecting due to it was getting dark. Walked towards my Polaris, still swinging. I got a hit. The max was screaming and had an 85 on it. Taking into consideration what Crusader said about big rusty items giving larger numbers like that, I was hoping for a cool relic. I only had a hand trowel and the roots were thick, oh and no sun. So I went back out Tuesday night with shovel and trimmer and about 1/2 hour of daylight.

This hit my funny bone. I dug up a shovel with my shovel. LOL

I’m loosing count, but I think this is the 4th one I have found.

Made me laugh, maybe it’ll give you a chuckle too.

Thanks for looking,

WD

Thanks that is funny but the cool thing is that the whole time you were digging I bet you had all kinds of things going through your mind of what could be down there, thats the fun part.....Tommy

hehehe I am glad you thought it was funny. I didn't know what to expect. Yep. the suspense is a huge part of it.

Getting rid of the iron is just another way to get the good keepers. But digging it out of the roots is a chore, it seems a lot of us have been there more than what we want admit.

Yep. I am beginning to see why there are so many different root chopping tools on the market.

I've found a number of shovels here in California mining areas, I've kept a few of the older ones. So yup appears to happen to a lot of us lol
