I found this ring buried deep in the rocks and muck at a local lake. Was out as deep as I could get away from the normal high traffic areas. Could barely dig it and took about 15 minutes to get out. It came out with some tarnish but may have been there for years. A little Dawn and it cleaned up pretty well. Stamped 18k. Weighs 17.87 grams. Hope it’s real. Also does anyone know the symbol. No idea what it stands for. Appreciate your thoughts! 317B183B-0720-4615-BB21-F3B4EA8F1D0F.png 5666C50F-7872-4A8A-AC27-451234306E95.png 9F3863ED-5145-4D48-B94B-6C2319AAC4B9.png B8896151-4B00-4F8D-B76D-D33D07F99779.png 1A40C5EE-2207-4F5A-8C2E-C0230C5B0F15.png E9E0780B-5701-4BD0-A14F-63A4026A39CE.png D041EA01-ED37-417C-BFA3-F48B7C7657CA.png

Bummmmerrrr!! Oh well it was still a great find and made for good discussion! Let’s hope the next one pops out a little shinier. Nonetheless, awesome find. Ddf.

I hope you have the real deal, but the clunky workmanship and design is typical of the many varieties of fake gold rings stamped 18K used in various scams. Here's just a few recent ones:

Many people report that there is an 'East European' connection to whatever scam was being operated.

Perhaps one of these RC mentioned.

Yes AARC think so. Looks very similar but has less shine. The gold exchange guy I take my stuff to said anyone can buy a stamp so guess it’s not that hard to do. Going to buy a gold tester from them as the owner developed and got a patent on his own electronic tester.

I went on a hunt with OBN one day and was looking hard I finally heard a signal and scooped and scooped and scooped and finally found a ring in my scoop, it was crusted from the salt water but had some gold peeking out, when I got home I zapped it and used baking soda paste. It cleaned up amazing and it had strange marks on it (my memory is bad I think it was marked like "14kRG I thought (or wanted to think it was) someones initials, lol
Ended up being an early 1900's Rolled gold ring, it had me on a roller coaster all day. I'll never forget how diplomatic OBN was about that ring, one of my favorite ring finds ever

That’s a bummer but what a story and memory! That is priceless but gold is still nice lol.

I have a huge jesus pendant that looks exactly that color marked 18k its 100% brass sorry to say but it has no luster. Also you dont need to go to a pawn shop. A simple streak test on porcelain would show you if something is brass or gold. Brass streaks black or grey and real gold will leave the color of gold.
