Got a new permission in an area I always wanted to explore. After spending almost 2 hours on the field without any signals I finally started hitting some nail signals and noticing pottery and brick laying around towards the edge of the field. Did around 12 hours in all exploring this new hot spot with some great results.

My best find was without a doubt a douzain Henri III of France from 1570's. It's countermarked with a Fleur de Lys stamp dating to the monetary reform of 1640 which makes it even more special in my eyes. It's the first time I find a French hammered in North America since 2016

Than, an other good silver. 1 Reale Carolus III of Spain 1780

20201012_181540.jpg 20201012_181509.jpg

Some more colonial silver pieces, one of them appears to be a piece of an engraved silver spoon.

Some colonial coppers, unfortunately half of them were in a pretty bad state.

20201012_174931.jpg

Some survived pretty well.

20201012_221957.jpg

One heart breaker was my first Woods Hibernia that was barely ok to ID

20201011_183220.jpg

Second day and second hunt on that spot. Even more coppers.

20201011_173859.jpg

Unfortunately most weren't in a great shape.

20201012_113652.jpg

Than an other colonial silver. Carolus III of Spain 2 Reales 1786. Seems to have burned at one point, was really difficult to clean.

20201015_165200.jpg 20201015_165214.jpg

20201015_213632.jpg 20201015_213619.jpg

An other first for me. Denmark 1 Skilling 1771

20201015_094119.jpg 20201015_094111.jpg

So in all, I got around 30 coins from that spot with some French and Spanish silver, Machin's Mills, Connecticut and early US

Relics weren't as abundant, a part from around 100 flat buttons and an unknown monetary weight. If someone has an idea about I'd appreciate the info.

Wow! I dream of all those coppers. You don't think they are in good shape? I think they almost all came out amazing! We are lucky to even get enough detail to ID a coin. I voted banner on that beautiful french hammered witht eh counter stamp! Simply amazing!

Thanks for your vote Rubka888 Half of the coins were completely gone eaten up by the soil. I'm still very glad with the coins that survived

What a great looking seal and a first also. I got one with an anchor on it earlier on this season and regard it as one of my nicest relics in sometime.
The silver is interesting and wondering if it was intended for another use, or it was a piece of trade silver of some sorts.
Liking the open pattern button.
Thanks for posting the extras -I know it takes time and effort to do up a post and many times it's hard enough to just get the finds cleaned up.
Your post ups are truly an inspiration to get out and to hunt old. Thanks for the post ups that you do.:icon_thumright:

Thanks pepperj, I appreciate it. I'm not sure about those pieces of silver. Seem to be too thin to have any other function than decoration and doubt Trade silver would be engraved with owner's initials. An other mystery, I'm hoping to find a few more bits of it when the field is plowed.

Got a few more coppers from that spot, a few relics as well.
One heart breaker

Would have been really nice if I pulled this one in good condition.
Other than that one good token and a buckle.

Countless buttons as well. All flat or tombac. Time will tell if plow will bring some more relics to the top.

Well done on the coppers and the buckle. It's been awhile since I've dug one of those tokens and in that shape. Certainly the other one has had the go from the soils, would have been a nice one.
The site has some wide date range it seems, lots of living had gone on there. Hows the iron-is it heavy or spread out?

The site appears to be pretty large. Relics all over the area. Where most of my coins came from there's a large iron filled spot. Some pottery, brick and stone. I suspect that a good plow will bring some of new stuff to the surface

Here's one of the iron object I've found there

Congrats on all the wonderful coin recoveries at your new site. When you think about, we're all looking more for sites than finds of coins, relics, etc. You have to find the site first, as you've done, and the finds usually come with it. I hope you have many more hours of enjoyment and finds to come. My buddy and another detectorists both found countermarked French silver like yours in Massachusetts - go figure. Their coins were worn beyond identification, and the countermarks were barely visible. Your coin is in wonderful condition. Well done.

Thanks Silver Tree Chaser. Yes, I couldn't be happier about that site and the quality of some of coins and relics. These, types of sites usually happen to me every few years or so.

Thanks SC Keith. I was just talking to a buddy of mine about your silver musket finds. Just mind blowing! Again, big congratulations! Someone would need to find something absolutely phenomenal to match those.

I reread this post again as it's truly the stuff we all dream of, simply an amazing post, just the volume and quality of what you found
hope it makes it to the banner soon as it definitely belongs there - wow!

I really believe it deserves more credit and not lost in the pages of time-I put my vote in as well.
These types of sites don't come around all that often-and produce such a great array of history.
