I haven't posted on these metal detecting boards in quite some time, however, I wanted to stop in and share a recent discovery with you all seeing it is a first for me in a couple different ways. I have been metal detecting for almost 30 years now and have found reales before (quite a few), however, the pistareen has eluded me. This is also now my oldest silver coin. I have been on the hunt for the sought after pine tree 3 or 6 pence but this one will do for now. It was found around a colonial era cellar hole way out in parts unknown NH.

The good stuff is still out there guys.

Best luck to all of you,

Matt

Congrats on the great looking silver, a real beauty to see coming out of the soils.
Two holes? Wonder if it was a sew job-or for a whizzer?

Nice find  I have yet to find a 2 reale pistareen, although a friend of mine found a 1721 like yours at a site I took him too.
I have found enough cut ones to make two full ones :laughing7:

Nice find. I assume you’ve found a pine tree shilling if your on the hunt for a 3p or 6p. They are actually harder to find than the shilling

Nice pistareen! I found my first this year as well. 1718. Also in New Hampshire. Took its place as my oldest coin and oldest silver. If only our coins could talk!

Excellent find! What detector do you use?

Great find. Yes, the presence of two holes suggest some sort of non-monetary use.
