I found a marevedis cob on one of the British islands--very nice find!

Looks like a match to me. Early Spanish then! (I found it hard to see the image well, although I'm clueless on Spanish stuff)

HCW you need to move to tidewater Maryland or Virginia to get them. Most of the early spots in Mass and the northeast are under concrete. Not so much here.

Calabash, there is a reasonable possibility you can find Roman coins if you find out where the fill from the WWII victory ships was dumped near the harbors.
