Although the snow and frost are gone, the mud made for very difficult conditions today. The heavy, sticky silt wore me out quickly so i abandoned my plan and headed for the high ground even though I had worked the area several times since the fall. I made it a point slow way down and focus on the edges of the field.... turned out to be a pretty good Plan B. I got two “keepers” from the hard packed tractor road that circles the small hill. Im going to let them dry for a bit to have a better look at the dates but anytime you can find a Draped Bust (1802?) and a Matron (1837?)... its a good day! To top it off, i stumbled across my first seated dime (1875) while calf deep in mud on the way back to my truck. All that, and Plan A is still in play for when things dry up a little bit.
