I was wondering what they were hunting, then looked up the "St. Charles" type point and they were used 10,000-12,000 years ago. Mastodon? Maybe the recent flood brought it up. Soil there is pretty deep in spots. This is the same spot my adze came from plus that huge chopper from last year and the agate basin point, although it probably has a better name for a Pennsylvania point.

Tomorrow I'll "find" the other (I think three) dovetails I have and stick them up here. They are junk in comparison. The white quartz one made my archaeologist friend almost wet himself years ago when I found it. It was the oldest point to date every found on that site. Then the next day (floods along the river), I found a resharpened clovis. I think he lost it then. And then the next day or so I found a Flint Ridge, Ohio Adena Blade (that's what he called it) 300' away. And a HUGE ax. Those were the days. That was 1984.

Its way short of the record for this type point, but about an inch longer than any other point I have ever found. I have found cores much larger...

WTG. Really nice arrowheads. My uncle in Kansas used to find them every once in a while when plowing his fields.

A 6" Flintridge dove that's probably a G10...worth a grand or more. I'm guessing the material your triangle is made from is Normanskill chert. Just a guess though as east coast is out of my range. Banner vote for dovetail. Gary

Wow, I'm obviously not looking hard enough on my hunts, probably time to get my old eyes checked again.

I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.
