Actually, the last time I saw this jar was in about 1975. I saw it for the first time in 1972. This may raise some eyebrows but I swear it has not been altered in any way. My dad was giving me some nice old bottles and jars today and I asked him about the Ball (ideal) Jar with the misprinted date on it and he knew right where he hid it to keep it from getting broken. He gave it to me along with some very nice ones I'll have to post pics of later. Look at the pics and tell me what you think about it. Is it worth anything or just a good conversation piece? Thank you for your input

I don't know what its worth monetarily but if I had a bottle like that, it would be in a prominent place in my home.

The Collector's Guide to Old Fruit Jars Red Book #9 from 2001 lists this as: 208-1, circa 1923-1933. The Patent date should have read 1908. In Ball Blue, pint or quart at $4 to $6.

I don't know anything about the value but I've always heard the blue glass is worth more. I've never heard anything about a misprinted date. That's cool!

Value is usually in the mind of the beholder, and in my mind it's valuable as a keepsake.

TT, that's funny because it's so true. ;D

Cool jar regardless of it's value. ;)

Thanks everybody for your input. I really like the old jar because my dad gave it to me. It's in a display right now out of reach of the grand babies. Oh, I have 5 of them and one on the way. I just found out a couple of hours ago. My daughter was so excited and of course I was too. Dang, I feel older than 47 years 8 months and 11 days old, lol... Thanks again everybody and have a good one.

Grandpaw Dang,
Congrats to you on your daughters great news, AND your cool misprinted BALL jar. Sounds like you had an awesome day.
I'd hand that jar down from generation to generation if it were mine. Maybe you could put a note inside with the date and who you gave it to as you pass it on, then your kids could do the same, and so on. Just an idea.
Thanks for the post,
MM
