I took a day and a half vacation to hunt a long swimming area on Melton Hill lake. The water isn't dropped there very often so I thought I better hunt it while I could. A lot of fishing goes on there too and a LOT less wholesome things at night. I was going along about 20 feet from the bank and found a 45 cal auto Federal hollow point round of ammunition. I usually don't think much about finding a live round but by the time I got tired of digging them up I had 122 of them. There's more there but it got old and it was taking valuable time off hunting what I was there for. After thinking about it for a while I stopped and called the local Police dept. and they had no interest at all in what I found. I don't know if they will still fire but I'll find someone who will want them to try them out. I also found 2 cheapie rings, 4 wheat's, 38 quarters, 31 dimes, 17 nickels, 62 memorial cents for a total of 152 coins and $14.11, a few broken arrowheads, lots of lures, sinkers, a real thick muscle shell. No pearl there though....I also found several live muscles in the mud and threw them out in the deep water because I didn't know how long the water would be down. You all have a good one

DANGLANGLEY,
Bet that ammo still fires. Looks like you had a good day.
Hope you get some more time in, it's rain & rain again here.

Looks like someone lost a couple of boxes of nice ammo. Those are good bullets. They aren't for blasting bottles in the backyard.

Don't shoot them though. Best not to risk blowing up your pistol.

can you show a close up of that buckle? i have a couple buckles that I've found with nothing to compare them to.

Yeah buddy, I had a few pics but I did a poor job on them. Here's a few better ones. I sure would like to know what kind of buckle it is if you can identify it. Thanks a bunch.

Thats a link from a chain. Imagine a hundred of them connected in a loop driving two sprockets on some old machine or even a very old car or truck.

Nice hunt and nice finds!

Regarding the ammo, one must wonder how it got there. I would recommend you find a buddy who is into reloading. I WOULD NOT TRY FIRING ANY OF IT! Being into firearms and reloading, I personally would pull all the bullets from their casings and discard the powder. Remarkably, the primers can still be used, once dried out. The casings and bullets should clean up just fine too. At the price of new ammo and reloading componants, the effort should be worth it. I would not attempt depriming the cases as that could be dangerous.

Take care,
GRB
