I hit a number of spots today and found a lot of old coins.

I dug most of them in the dark, so I thought I would let you see the pictures of them before cleaning and let you guys guess what I found on the day.

There is no clad pictured. Everything you see is at least silver age or older. There are wheats, indian heads (of course), silver, tokens, and some misc.

I don't know the totals of what I found, but will know later tonight after I clean them.

UPDATE:

I went to a lot of sites yesterday with my friend Mark. I'm new to the area, so he was gracious enough to take me out with him. After he went home for the night I hit a yard near my house and I dug 16 wheats and the rosie there. I kept getting signals, but it was getting dark and their backyard had mosquitoes, so I will head back there today if my other site I'm going to doesn't pan out.

I finished the day with the following:

23 wheats
4 indians - 1891, 1893, 1906, 1907 (one isn't pictured, I found it hiding in my clad pouch)
1903 Barber Dime
1952 Roosevelt
1958 Indiana Dog Tag
1997 Great Britain 50 New Pence - eyeball find, found laying in a flower garden
Radio City, New York Token / Medal
Greenwood, IN, Token - My first from my new home town - Very cruddy, anyone know how to clean crud off aluminum, or is it a lost cause? I've got a good number of old tokens that look like this.
Emerson Brantingham Co. Foot - Dates from 1912 and was originally a stick pin.
Back of a pocket watch, was hoping for sterling, it wasn't.
Broken piece of metal marked Barclay, would have been nice to find it whole!

I think the big coin is not a coin at all but the face of a pocket watch!
Awesome!! You'd better get back there before I do! :)

Looks like you hit the jackpot, clean or uncleaned. Besides the obvious, Barber dime, Indian penny, I see a Rosie dime, and a wheat back penny. Let us know what else is in there (with pictures).

Maybe a couple of large cents and the bigger object is either the back to a pocket watch or part of a compact. :icon_scratch:

I wrote a short story with the exact same plot once. I hoped to have it published in a metal detecting magazine. It was entitled "Nighthawking Old Peoples' Homes in a Small Town".

I thought it had potential.

;D

Did their pit bull "do in" the Protagonist? Or did the police arrest him and he somehow managed to escape, travel 600 miles on foot, and return to the arms of his True Love?

Thats one heck of a day hunting, I use lemon juice and then if they still need cleaning I use a drommel tool on them with a alum of brass brush, I dont use the brush on silver I use a pad with some light polishing compound
