Help requested in identifying an unknown ball.
The ball weighs in at 5 lbs 15.1 oz. The diameter is approximately 3.557 inches. It has a mold seam and what appears to be raised numbers 1 1/4 (no slash mark). It came in an auction box lot back in the early 1980's with a couple of CW bullets. I have no idea what it could be. Any suggestions?

you can get an exact diameter and check the cannons of the cival war at your library by size. then try to match it. a shotput wouldnt have raised numbers on it but niether would a cannon ball. It could simply be a wieght. is it hollow at all?

My guess would be the busted off end of an old dumbell.
