I'm sorry that happened to you civil war 22. My husband got permission to hunt a construction site last Summer after we had joined the Middle Tennesse Metal Detecting Club and invited one of the members to hunt with us there A few times times and with his wife once. In all between a plate my husband found,a plate I found, and our invited guest's plate he found you would think he would have been satisfied but he went around us and got permission on his own after we asked him to cool it there because we were too. He assured us he would never go without us since we had been so gracious to ask.I caught him red- one rainy Sunday afternoon and needless to say he hasn't been back to any of the club meetings after trying to defend what he had done was o.k. There are or lack of thereof in this hobby whether people want to admit or not.

Most of them don't realize that when you take the time to secure the permission that place somewhat becomes your baby and you love for it and take care of it like it was your own and then a step parent or cousin comes along and tries to step on some toes and grandpa(landowner) gets mad and punishes you all.... I honestly felt like someone punched me in the nads when they did that but I have came to realize that it was a life lesson and I've picked myself up and learned from that mistake and made myself a less trusting person to fellow hunters seeking hunting land because they say they are looking for buddies to detect with who have places of their own...

If I had nads I would have felt like I got kicked in them too but we're over it and have learned who to trust. There are few people that we really trust with our sites and we share info and research. It doesn't always pay off necessarily when it comes to relics but if I live my life with honor I sleep better at night.

Exactly!!! I have learned to trust my gut instinct on someone and not feel sorry for them cause they don't have any places to hunt. Chances are those are the guys who have several nice places and are just looking to add new places to their hunts and are too lazy to get out and do the leg work on researching a new place.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, but maybe with time and good will you can repair the rift. Also always remember that no good deed goes unpunished, and you might be surprised how far 5 lbs. of locally grown honey will get you, wink, wink. Cheers!!

I have a real problem sharing my sites. I always think of them as money and I don't want no one stealing my money....
