"Safety First" Watch Fob/Tag...

Hey all, I dug this personalized fob/tag mding and have have found some background info on whom i believe is the inscribed name referenced. The fob has the appearance of the lettering having been hand stamped along with the decorative touchs. There are no mfg.,maker marks on the backside.
What i am more curious about is the "safety first" logo. Was this fob given out/awarded as a workplace accomplishment or reminder by an employer? and were these type fobs fairly commonplace in most workplaces or specific to some in particular?

So cool! I still think that is a symbol at the bottom, maybe an engineer type logo? a company logo?
