I made this scoop up from scrap in the truck after work one day when I found myself at a sandy tot lot without a sand scoop.

It does not work as well as my other home made scoop.

The wood bar down across the front opening, (which I thought might help for strength), is more of a hindrance than anything.

Value of the open back is up in the air... don't really need it if you can get your hand in the open front of a scoop, which on this one, I can't!

The 1/4" hardware cloth is fine for dry sand, of less value in wet sand when you need to actually dig a bit.

We're still working on a stout beach scoop...
I probably would have been better off just buying a nice one like Sandman advises for the surf if I spent more time at the beach.

Hey EDDE!

I recognize Quatto in there!
The miners think he's George Washington or something!

Can somebody have their Metal Detector removed from their possesion for just being stupid? This is just a general question and is not directed or aimed towards any specific member, poster or guest.

Here's mine. It really works well and it was cheap cheap cheap. I bought it at a feed store.

Just make sure you don't drill the holes bigger than a dime, and you're set.

That looks pretty stout, Mona.
I wanted long handle.
Hard to attach a handle, simply, so everyone can do it.

Here's another idea that didn't work.
Well, it did, it just wasn't worth it.
