Re: North American Forts resource
Wow. I went to my section (B.C., CAN.) and it was all there and well researched. But I'll have to reply to them and fill in some "?". Thanks for the link!

Re: North American Forts resource
I was researching a former General I knew in my youth when I came across this website listing about 4 pages of military forts and posts all over the USA about 1882. It even gives a little information of the location. It starts on page 363. Happy Digging.

Here is another source of sites for Military Relic Hunters:
http://www.texasbeyondhistory.net/forts/military.html
http://www.texasbeyondhistory.net/forts/index.html
http://www.uipress.uiowa.edu/books/2.../whittaker.htm

For Civil War Relic Hunters, find a certain Regiment that you are
interested in be it Union or Confederate. Type in Search, i.e.
History of the Washington Grays and a website similar will pop up:
http://thewashingtongrays.homestead.com/ and you might find a bivouack
encampment, winter encampment, picket post or earthwork that
hasn't been metal detected. You will do a lot of reading but that's
research and you'll not have a dull day ever.
