Al Capone and unrecovered loot in Central Arkansas????

Has anyone ever heard of this story or read any older articles on it? I used to live there and had a friend of my father ACTUALLY take me to the site. It's a couple of acres and I did not EVEN have the equipment at the time to properly search for it. All that I had was a lower-end detector, and only found some silver around this foundation. There is an old foundation where he supposedly ran one of many of his gambling/booze operations, and was in a very secluded farmland area. Out in the middle of NOWHERE.

I'm no expert on the Al Capone story and I would not want to be the next Heraldo Rivera

However, I never heard of Al Capone operating out of Arkansas. This doesnt mean it isnt true, it's just news to me.

Hot Springs, Arkansas was at one time kind of a "DMZ" where various mobsters went to enjoy the spas etc. Al Capone actually spent quite a bit of time there, and if memory serves, even made use of some secret passages between a certain hotel and some local establishment so that he would not be seen by John Law making the trip.

Do not remember the details, and my dad's stepmother from Mississippi has been dead for over 30 years now. She used to go there in the 20's and 30's for the mineral springs and had seen many of the gangsters and met some.

Smee has a good point!! Hot Springs was the site Capone frequented along with other "Businessmen" of the day. The old gambling casino was actually on the north side of town, when you head northeast! There was an establishment called the Purple Orchid on the main street where they would gather and have a touch of spirits!! He also had a tour of duty in Texarkana, where he spent a few joyous days at the Federal Prison!! GOOD HUNTING!! VERDE1

I wouldn't count on that lowlife leaving money behind in Arkansas. The James' allegedly went there to
bet on the races but that doesn't mean they buried money either. Hot Springs was wide open, no law
to worry about so why would they need to? You have to have a motive or else it makes no sense.

Big Al had a mansion on star island miami in the 1930s. Some airline pilot bought it in the 1980s and said there was a treasure on the property. I never heard anything more about it.
