Gila County Area Possible Treasure Hidden

Recently I was hiking near the Mescal mountain area with a friend of mine who was telling me about how his son picked up a native american who was hitchhiking from Globe to Winkelman. His son said that the man was very greatful as it was a hot day. He started to tell his son about a legend about his grandmother. His grandmother supposedly rode with the Apache renegades in the San Carlos area. He said that one time his grandmother and other renegades stole a stagecoach and rode off with it into the Mescal mountains. He said that in the coach they found a chest of gold coins. They didn't know what they were so they started skipping (or throwing) them down the canyon side. He said as his grandmother got older and realized what they were threw she could never relocate them again. I don't know if this is true, but thought I would share it with you all. The area is so large and on a reservation mostly that we might not ever be allowed in!
