This story came to me in 1995 through an old and trusted friend, and he shared the details the way he remembered them from when he heard the story years before.
In the 1930's a young boy was hunting rabbits and squirrels around the edge of a high pasture above Hominy Creek in Osage County. He missed a shot at a rabbit and it ran into a hole. The boy ran over to the hole and knelt down at the edge. Just then the dirt gave way and he tumbled headlong down the hole. When his eyes had adjusted to the darkness he found himself in a cave of sorts. He looked around and was terrified upon seeing two skeletons dressed in Spanish armor. He climbed up out of the hole and grabbed his .22 calibre rifle, then he hurried home. Over the supper table he told what he had found and he was met with disbelief. A few years passed before he finally convinced his father and older brother to go with him to the little hidden cave. They searched many times but he never again found the hole.
