we went to bird creek today to look for leads off the info we were able to find, and are pretty sure we found the landmark from the story we read.
no specifics on location along the creek because if this is real we want to be the ones who find it. but we found the cliff with the rock formation sticking out over the creek itself, and also what appeared to be entrances to caves along the middle of the cliff. we talked to the residents that own that section of the creek and surrounding fields and have their permission to come back and go exploring. but holy crap...... wading boots, long pants, bug killer, etc are going to be a must. we were only out there a little while and got destroyed by chiggers, ticks, mosquito's, poison ivy, and thorn bushes. it was a blast though. when we go back in the following weeks we will take pictures, even if we turn up empty handed
