Looks like a good lead to follow up on, only a few hours drive away. Biggest worry is that FW has grown so much that this spot is likely buried until the modern city.

if it's anything like here in this part of PA,
Fields still exist , but they don't get plowed anymore.
so depth may be an issue

Yeah, lots of farmers have gone "no till" because its cheaper and easier. If the field still exists as open ground, that would be a wonderful spot to give a whirl. Looking over FT Worth maps, some places have seen the city stretch more than 10 miles away from the original town site. There is a Bewley rd, but its impossible to know yet if that was named for the farm is was built over (housing addition) or if the developer simply chose a prominent/historic family name.

yea I've heard many stories like that.

only plow I've seen around here is down in Gratz.
there is an Amish Farmer down there has a team of 4 or 6 White Horses,
He hooks them up side by side to a plow.

something like this

I think I have read a version of this story before, maybe Jeff even posted it, but I can't find any information on any of the folks listed in this article. IIRC the land was on the NE side of Fort Worth close to where several cities come together. I would do the legwork and door knocking if I could find the place.

And this is a bad sign. There should be records of these names and actions. I couldnt even find a reference to the Indian tribe land being purchased by the govt. Al I found were references to the Indians being driven from their homes, which is much more believable for the time period. If the story was true, it should have been a rebroadcast of news from FW. So if there are no news stories corroborating then this is likely just sensational filler, pulled from a story elsewhere and names/dates/location changed.

Article mentions William Tubbs living near Crawford, which has a Tonkawa Falls, but is close to Waco not Fort Worth... Crawford was probably just a spec of a town back then but there were Tubbs in the area.

Looks like there are 198,316 pages of News Print for Idaho
https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/...0&searchType=advanced#tab=tab_advanced_search

22140 results containing “the phrase "meridian"”

https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/...t=&proxdistance=5&rows=20&searchType=advanced

you can search Just Idaho

Or you can search the Whole Country

Or you can search Single Papers

Follow the Directions.

https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/...0&searchType=advanced#tab=tab_advanced_search

I search all states at once , and usually just a Particular Phrase or Village Name.

I hope this Helps
