Skeleton Rock Stagecoach Gold

I was reading recently about a stagecoach gold robbery and the gold payroll that was stashed by the robbers as they were fighting off Indians
near a place called Skeleton Rock near post Oregon.

I don't know what is fact or fiction it was said bones of one of the robbers layed in the rocks for years time frame late 1800.

Does anybody have additional information on this?

I have been going out to that area and poking around. Haven't made it to the rock yet. Hopefully next summer. When I was out in the area I could not ever imagine dragging a stong box up the side of the skeleton rock. Just getting up some of the rocks in the area was very difficult with only a detector.
