There is nothing else that sounds like a tornado...

News was a little vague as to whether it was here or not, so I chose to step outside and listen to the siren echoing thru town and listen to the wind.

As the siren wound down the wind picked up... there was that roar that I have remembered for 44 years.

It came over the hill just to the west of my front door.

My little windmill in the yard spun in circles almost as fast as the blades turned.

Lightening flashed and I could see the rain reverse directions and leaves and limbs in the air.

I turned to alert my wife and daughter, as the wind slammed the door.

I yelled " NOW!".
Everyone went to the bathtub, dog and all.

I grabbed the cushions from the couch as I came to the bathtub and threw them over my wife and daughter.

As I placed my foot into the tub, expecting to hear the wall leave the building, the noise dropped.

The sirens picked up again and the weather man said take cover now if you live in HUNTSVILLE.

My wife said "Get in!"... the wind just stopped.

Were we in the center, or had it passed that quickly? Everything said take cover, but the wind just stopped.

We were spared. Reports from the news said we had been hit with damage in and around town.

Five minutes in the tub was all the wife could take.
I sent them to bed and stood watch until we were cleared and declared safe.

What a night... Too wound up to sleep and too tired to stay awake.

Thankful to God for the answer to my prayers.

Hopeful that the damage is not bad, where it hit.

Ninety minutes now.
Time to medicate.

Stay safe, and God bless.

Weekender, how did you make it thru last night?

You and all of our Tnet buddies were in my prayers.

Glad to hear from you.

I hope that last one didn't get you.

Yes. He heard my prayers.

My wife has never been hit by a tornado, so she doesn't recognize the sound of windsheare.

I will never forget that sound.

Glad to hear from you.

Mikel,
Thanks for the prayers and thoughts.
You and our fellow Tnet'ers were also in my prayers.
Got to hear the sirens and listen to
the weather man for awhile. Man, I think some of
these guys must paid by the word. They do a great job,
But,:icon_scratch: , sometimes.
The dogs were whining and hollering some,
so, that tells me it was probably closer that I let the wife believe.
Here's hopin' we're done with the tornadoes for awhile. And, Yes,
You are right about the sound, you hear it once and you never forget it.

Weekender, I was watching
40/29 weather last night as the storm reached their studio.
Darby, the weatherman, stopped and told the crew and staff to go down stairs and take shelter.

He stayed on the air. He changed from radar to the camera on the tower above their studio.
I saw rain going in multiple directions for a few seconds, then thy lost signal.

That moment was stressful.

They were back on in a little while. It was a power outage.

The moment would have made a great scene in a movie.

I'm going to hit the hay earlier tonight.

Stay safe, you and all off our .tn buds.

Okay, I'm going to take a shot at getting back on subject.

I wandered off, so I'll try to reset.

This is a photo that I had planned to place in the book and I didn't work it in.

It's the capstone that was above the three stones that were the reason for the last expedition.

It now lies at the bottom of the washed out bluff

It's the large circular stone about two to three feet thick.
It is leaning at about a forty five degree angle.

I have stood on top of it dozens of times, while it was at the bluff.

That's okay. It's the news of the day.
I just watched the news from there.
That short term storm was a lion in a thimmble!!

They showed lots of demolished cars and trucks.

I hope you all have good insurance.

More coming in the next few hours.

I have saved about ten copies of the book. None of them have copied exactly as the others.

None of them are off other than page count.... broken sentences at the bottom of some pages,etc...

There are small details omitted that I wanted in the book, but property owners rights to privacy can't be jeopardized.

Info about home made tools to work the ,now, nonexistent bluff, custom measurement tools, etc... are now meaningless, but the research and manufacturing were worthy of some interest.

The headaches of working with a fifteen year old laptop are maddening.

Aaaahhhhhhh!!!

MIKEL, LOOKING AT THE PHOTO OF THE TWO HOODED ONE. COULD THERE BE A POSSIBILITY THAT THERE IS A VAULT BEHIND THAT WALL.. IT BASED IT ON THE WAY THAT WALL LOOKS. THE TWO VERTICAL DARK LINES AND THE WAY THE BOTTOM LOOKS. I WOULDN'T PUT IT PAST THE MASTERS OF ILLUSION TO CREATE A FALSE WALL.. IT WOULD BE NICE TO KNOW.

Hi Bob.

Weekender and have considered
That possibility.

Weekender was the one that found that vault, and he is the one that photographed it.

It's on property that we have lost permission to continue the hunt.

So has become closure. It is in a difficult spot to get to and the land owner allowed me one day to finish and that was our final discovery.

If I were in better health, I would fight tooth and nail to go back and try.

Moving any rock their would most likely be fatal.

I could spend a week there just studying that area without moving a stone and add two more chapters to my book.

But three generations of the land owners want my work to stop that day.

Someone, someday will die trying to get thru that wall, but it won't be me.

Bob.
If you study the photo of Weekender in the vault, and look at the wall at his left shoulder,
You can see how important the integrity of that wall is.

The stone above his head is balanced on a house of cards, so much that even an attempt to dig in from the back, would most likely prove fatal

Weekender said he felt clostraphobic, while he was in the box opening.

Easy to see why.
