    Thom,

Did the trees point to the camp site, was there any indication that a camp site was near, or did you just happen to spot it?

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

The camp is about 35 or 40 yards off the trail.
There were several trees pointing to it as well as a couple of stone pointers.
But I saw the abutment before I saw the pointers.
The abutment was used to level an area to camp on in front of a protective wall of stone.

WOW havent posted here in a while and began exploring other sections other than the metal detecting sites---never even heard of any of this type of stuff till now---Does anyone know if this was done in Pa or was this mainly something that was done out west. I am looking for all types of interesting hobbies for my son who is now turning 14(my last post he was 10) and metal detecting still has his attention as well as geocaching, but something like this...wow...he would go ape sh*t over.

    resq937,

I see no problem with a kid your son's age learning what actually happened in this country.
Instead of what historians want to put in a book.

    I think 14 is a good age,
There is nothing better than gathering truth.
I started doing this when I was 15.

I don't think it has hurt me too badly

I am thinking OD....i think maybe i oughta haul the tesoro up there and see what she finds tomorrow.
Kinda on pins and needles out here waiting for the coman to call for a bit swap...cutting is getting ratty
and we have about another 4 degrees to drop in the hole to be verticle and done with the drop.

And that being said...what about waiting till the K5 is repowered and finishing the already started CP1 hole?

    Cyndi,
Was going to try to post some monuments next, since all that has been posted of them yet are the turtle earlier and the face . there are a lot of things that are still to pour over and ponder.

Gonna have to have you and Doug write a book too! What a wealth of information you guys are! Been watching that other thread with the drilled rock and red heart rock....pretty fascinating how much info you guys have pulled out of that already! Looking forward to the monuments too!

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Here are a couple that were posted by me on another thread.
Note that major monuments were made as landmarks to use when mapping a trail.
They can be seen for many miles away and are many times used only to mark a relevant compasse point or longitude.
These two monuments are made to resemble birds, One is nesting, one is pointing.
It is also nessisary to note that monuments almost NEVER point to treasure.
So enjoy them when you find them and don't worry that you are missing something, or that they are hiding anything. They are land marks ... usually nothing more.

Monuments need to be covered as well.
Turtles are a trail marker that many people seem to think is a necessary ingredient for a treasure trail.

    This is totaly untrue !
But a turtle certainly will get your blood going.
A turtle ALWAYS points to treasure.

Here is a sea turtle that is looking straight up a cliff at a heart shaped hole.
Sorry it isn't a little bigger, I took the picture as I drove by. This monument is about 1/4 mile away.

OD I love the turtle marker !! I may be repeating someones Else's question > if so forgive me as I have been having to read all this posting fast >> my question >>> is there also a snake with his mouth opened that the turtle is looking up at. Were these meant to be two combining markers > heart and serpent I love the thread > truly wonderful and educational thanks Carolinadigs

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

    Carolinadigs,

I think the other large hole is shaped like a turtle as well and is pointing to a marker in line with the heart.
I haven't been over to it yet so I can't say for sure.
The thing that has me really courious is the small stone sitting in the lobe of the heart.
