As reported by the Hindu Times;

Construction workers bumped into a metal container while excavating a new swimming pool in the city of Pune, India.

The container turned out to contain over 800 gold coins dating back to the 1500's.

The workers apparently concealed the coins and took them to a local goldsmith with hopes of cashing in on their huge find.

Unfortunately someone found out about their plans and told police, who ended up arresting the workers and the goldsmith.

India has pretty strict rules about reporting buried treasure, especially when it is national importance.
