Any "treasure legends" in NM, near to where this was found? The Deserts of NM are pretty inhospitiable I reckon, and where you find a 900 year old pot, you'll find much more. I'd be inclined to say, the BLM knows there IS much more there, but now that a bunch of meddling kids (shakes fist) found this pot, they (BLM) nod and smile and say the area is off limits and they'll go investigate themselves some other time hoping the story is forgotten by next week.
Interesting find, to say the least...
