In 1992, the Mexican president took three 'zeros' off his currency and created 'new' money. Holders of the 'old' money were given three years to convert their 'old' pesos to 'new' pesos. If your coins predate 1992, the 500 peso of that day would be worth 1/2 peso today. My dates my be off, but not the concept. Coin collectors may add a premium today though the coin is no longer accepted as currency.
