Need a new setup for 300

My wife agreed I need a new setup. I can spend 300 max. I live at Topsail Beach. I would love one that can do shallow water and land. But I'm on a budget. I will be mainly at the beach but doing civil war trails as well. I can do paypal or money order. Or cash for locals.

So... feel free to post what you have for sale within my budget. I prefer supporting members here than anywhere else.

I don't have one at the moment. I used a whites model previously.

For $300, you will probably be limited to a VLF detector. Consider the Minelab Go-Find 60, Garrett Ace 350 or Fisher F44. They will chatter in the wet salt sand and you will have to turn the sensitivity down. The F44 is weatherproof, so it can get a little wet, just don't submerge it.

I agree with the Fisher F44, you may also want to look at the Bounty Hunter Land Ranger Pro.

get a decent used detector and then detect like crazy using the money for an upgrade

A single frequency VLF is just going to piss you off at the beach. Buy a used salt machine or save your money up for a new one.

If you live at the beach save 200 more and just get an 8" Sand Shark. As rob said a single freq vlf is marginal at best in wet salt sand.
