Looks like a nice unit! I am interested in building something similar. I believe a small trommel will really help us process the material we are currently having problems with.

The cobble beds we worked last season had a lot of fine silt and black sands stuck to the rocks. In this clay like mixture is the fine gold we are after. We almost had to hand wash the bigger rocks to get the gold.

Looking forward to seeing how your unit operates. Good luck!

Because of the vibration, you should think about drilling every 1½" or so... and pinning the legs instead of using the bolt to hold it in place. A clevis on both would be a sure thing.

May I ask what kind of motor you are using and what you are using for the drive belt? Looks great! More pictures! How is the hopper working? I'm always curious as to what people do with theirs and ours is pretty similar considering i built mine out of wood, an 8" pvc pipe and a 12v dc motor.

The motor is a power seat motor 12V DC. Figured if it can move someones butt fwd/backward it can move some gold/water around!

The belt is an adjustable V-belt. You can get 5' a harbor freight for 25$.

Hopper/collector right now is being redone...
I had the hopper above the barrel with the flow goin in to a collector then to the barrel. Turned out the hopper would be sky high (42") after the sluice drop was figured in...
