i've been told that this button might be from a British soldier and that you folks from the UK might be able to help me out......i dug this in northern virginia....i have not been able to find it anywhere.....it measures 3/4"....it is heavy....the back reads, "treble gilt, standard colour"........the front has 2 crowns, a ship, and a banner that reads, MAGNA CHARTA........it is encircled with a belt and the belt's oval buckle is on the bottom left.....inside the belt it says, "pro rege et patria".....any info you could give me would be appreciated....thanks

hi

I think this is a naval button (hence the ship on it) probably from the allied ship HMS Monmouth which was associated with D (Shropshire Yeomanry) Squadron - The Royal Yeomanry (who's motto is on this badge). The ship was first commissioned in 1991. It is the sixth "Duke"-class Type 23 frigate of the Royal Navy.
