Thats my main stomping grounds, pulled barbers, indian heads, tokens old toys even watched a buddy dig an 1853 seated dime. You need to find the old homesteads that use to be there. Look for the signs and you'll do good.
Never be scared to ask Permission, the worst thing that can happen is a "No", but usually it's a "Yes".

I've hit the woods a little with varied success. Pulled some wheaties before, I personally prefer older parks, and summer camps especially are awesome if you can get permission

Wooded lots frequented by people dropping stuff over the past hundred years are terrible hard to find out here in Washington unless it's a big city park.

Got my eyes on one in Everett.

Anybody every detected Forest Park ( the oldest and largest in Everett?)

It is heavily wooded with paths, I'm sure.
