That is freaking cool. I would have paid that and maybe more. I am not sure how much it would be worth but I can't find boot scrapers that have themes or are near as nice as this one. I would guess it to be metal? Congrats on a nice piece. Hopefully someone can comment further and help out.

Yeah it is metal. It's cast iron with two halves screwed together.
Thanks. I think it's super cool also.

Thanks HAPPYCAMPER. Look like I got a pretty good deal on a much better condition item.

Are the screws on it Philips heads? Also does it say Taiwan or USA on the bottom. Certain factors like these can help date it, and the older it is, the more it's likely to be worth.

They are Phillips head. I don't see any markings at all on the bottom.

OK. So most likely the horse is from the 1960's to 1970's, unless someone replaced all the screws. Either way, still looks like you got a good deal!

I find it hard to believe it would be worth the $150 as shown on that EBay listing from Happy camper, but it still did sell for that much. One thing I've learned though, is that unless you sell everything on ebay, you're not going to get as much for an item just by selling locally, like for example, Craigslist. Cast Iron can also be a very tricky item, as there are many worthless Chinese fakes made from the '80's to now. Yours looks like a good piece, plus it has good paint and nice patina.
In my opinion, the max it would be worth is $75 to $100, but it's all what that one person is willing to pay.
